Silverton

A few views from Silverton, CO. I didn't get to spend nearly as much time in this southwest corner of Colorado as I wanted, and didn't think I was even going to be able to stop through at all. Since I went back up to Antonito, CO to ride the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad though, I decided to make a long weekend out of it and meander over through Durango and up to Silverton. There is actually another steam train that runs along this same route, but the timing didn't work out for that one this time around (you can actually pay extra to ride in the cab on that one...so you better believe I'll be back in the future!). It was neat getting to drive through the area though and also visit the Silverton Historic Museum, which has some really amazing mining relics on show as well a seriously impressive mineral collection.
