Death Valley

The roads in Desert Valley were quite a pleasant surprise as well! Roads through most deserts I've been to tend to be either very straight and flat, or are very steep and sharp. I found Death Valley to be a really good middle ground, making for quite an enjoyable drive. There's a lot of almost like rolling hill type terrain here which the roads conform nicely to, meaning the road characteristics are constantly evolving as quickly as the scenery does. For the most part there's always some sort of curve, dip, or rise happening which is exactly the type of road this car is best at. I take this car out on these road trips simply because I love driving it, so when the roads themselves can be as enjoyable as the scenery is, it's just a dream!

My good bud @leefyg once referred to the 2002 as a Landspeeder, and I was reminded fondly of that analogy here today. At one point I was blasting down an empty stretch of awesome road doing [censored] mph, looking around at the desert landscape whipping by, and couldn't help but just giggle to myself imagining what it's like to be in a X-34 Landspeeder blasting around Tatooine. Death Valley was literally used as a film location for some of the Tatooine scenes, afterall!

There's a section of one-way road called Artist's Drive, and dang is it cool. It's 9 miles long I believe, and it's best to do it twice. Once slowly to enjoy the beautiful rocky canyon you're threading, and then once a bit more spirited to take advantage of what would be a seriously SWEET rally stage!
