Great Sand Dunes National Park

Damn, Great Sand Dunes National Park is pretty epic, especially at sunrise. It's such a weird thing, a random dune field flanked by the San Luis Valley plains on one side and the Sangre De Cristo Mountains on the other. The sand is trapped there by opposing wind directions right here at the foothills of the mountain, and you can easily witness the wind forces in action just being there. Stand still long enough and the dunes literally start transforming around your feet, and you can observe the path the wind begins to carve through the sand. Scientists have come here for aerodynamic studies over the years due to how intense the effect is here. 💨
